Notifications
351 TopicsI keep receiving annoying sound notifications from my Win11 Dropbox app.
A few days ago, on my Win 11 PC, I started getting Dropbox notifications multiple times a minute. There were small information boxes that appeared for a while. I think that I changed a setting to stop the boxes, but still the annoying tone keeps sounding! I clicked on the icon in the system tray and clicked "pause syncing", but that did not stop the sound. I then clicked on my initials, then Preferences, then Notifications, and then turned off all notifications. The notification sounds (I assume they are notifications of some kind) persisted. The notifications on my Dropbox account (via Chrome) all seem to be email notifications, and probably not relevant. The only way that I can stop the notifications is if I choose the "Quit" option from the app (in the system tray). The syncing seems to be continuous. Mostly just 2 or 3 files, but then all of a sudden it shows over 500 files syncing, then it quickly drops to 2 or 3. I don't know if this is related, but for better security, I recently created an Admin account and downgraded my everyday account to a non-admin account. I think that the Dropbox issues happened before that change, but I am not 100% certain. Any help or ideas would be appreciated!59Views0likes9CommentsI received an email about my storage being almost full even though I'm not near my account's limit
I recieved an email from no-reply@em-s.dropbox.com saying that I have used 84.57% of available space and my storage is almost full, even though I'm only using 19.6 GB of my 2 TB. Is this a spam?167Views0likes3CommentsReceived emails that my file requests were closed for folders I deleted years ago
All of a sudden I received a "your file request was closed" on 5 folders that were deleted over 5 years ago. Does anyone know what is going on? I currently do not use the file request option, and have not for over 5 years. The notification listed folders I did make, but deleted in 2017.56Views0likes5CommentsNot getting notifications when files are added to folder
As the title says, I'm not getting notifications when a file has been added to a shared folder that I created. I can see that something was added if I view "Sharing activity," but I'm not getting notified. In fact, when I click the bell icon to view my notifications, the last notification I have is from last month... so, if there is sharing activity from 10/17, how come there is no matching notification about a file being uploaded? I noticed this happening today, when I received an email last night about "Last week's updates in your shared folders." I'm like LAST WEEK????? How come I'm just now seeing this??? (Granted, it was just Thursday when they were added, so it hasn't been a full week, but still...) File added 10/17 (today is 10/22) and I'm just now finding out that some files were added. Hi Dropbox community, I’m posting here as I got a very strange email telling me that I was 254% (or close to that number) over my storage limit. I found this odd but when I went to go check my Dropbox account instead of finding my 25GB space I suddenly had 2GB… then when logging in again I was told I had 5GB on my account. I didn’t get many answers online but I did find out whilst trying to make sense of this that I now have to pay Dropbox in order to access any kind of support (and given my storage was removed with no warning or info I’m sure you can imagine I’m not keen to start giving Dropbox my hard earned cash, especially as I didn’t know holding support hostage and only if you’re paying Dropbox was legal before today) so 3 two factor verifications and multiple sign-ins here I am. Has this happened to anyone else? I haven’t been abusing the referral system which seems to be the only reason other suggested this might be happening so I’d appreciate any help anyone is able to give me.24Views0likes1CommentMultiple notifications on desktop app asking me if I want to delete files
Last week my main PC W10, named "Qanto", went crazy making it impossible to use. I was building a new PC. Again W10. In an urgent move, I started to configure it as the New Main PC. Name "TwenyFour" or T24 for friends :-D. While I was here, being forced to access many useful settings stored in "PC/settings BKP" under Dropbox, I also looked around on the PC folder where many Install.Dirs are also hosted. I used this BKP technique on an SD stick for many years, but having Dropbox maintaining that storage updated is much better. _____________________________ Perusing all Dropbox Folders to manage software, and much more ... I've found a lot of old parts saved there not usable anymore. That's a good opportunity to make some order and do some cleaning. Every time I reboot the T24, the notification "do you want to delete XYZ?" appears and asks for an Ok, I give "OK", then another appears, etc, etc, etc may be twenty times :-( ... I've read another 6-year-old thread where reasons were explained, but I found it quite intrusive to insert that ... and stupid not being present in the "notification options setting". No solution appeared so far in that thread, and a search on the forum did not give me interesting results. ANY HELP to block those things? (It never appeared on my old device, it's still not appearing on the W11 laptop ) 6 years .. Trying to program around an annoyance. I am using VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) with Microsoft Access to work with files, our team will generate reports and then put them in shared folders on Dropbox automatically for specific users to review. Once the user has processed the document, we can delete them I notice that in File Explorer when we delete files from a shared Dropbox folder, it always asks if we want to delete it from everyone or just my computer. Is there a way when I do this via VBA to not have that message pop up as we will be working with hundreds of report files, many which will get deleted or replaced. Having to constantly click the message can make my users very annoyed.44Views0likes6Comments
