Organize
40 TopicsThe ability to add tags in the mobile app.
I’m not sure why this has been suggested for years now and this basic functionality still isn’t present in the app. This makes your automation really frustrating if I can’t add tags on my phone when I’m away from my computer and adding files from my phone.105Views6likes6CommentsShow long-running tasks management section in Dropbox web
In Dropbox web, when moving many files or organising many files, it would be very helpful to have a section dedicated for tracking these long-running, async operations which is persistent. This is not the same as the toast progress bar. That one gets destroyed if you leave the tab, navigate to the account settings page or just come back after a while. I mean a persistent section tracking the progress of long-running operations and allowing some controls such as "abort" or track more prominently. If failures occur, they should also appear in this section, differently from the progress toast we have today which can simply be gone if you come back to the tab after a while, leaving you confused as to why some photos still weren't moved. Secondly, it's very common that moving 1000+ photos in Dropbox fails silently. We have to retry the long-running operations over and over and over until all photos are really moved. Ideally this would be better tracked in the section mentioned above with a simple way to retry, if not automatic.19Views0likes1CommentSyncing shared folders into a specific directory when joining.
Whenever we join a shared folder it syncs into the parent directory. If we can sync all such folders into a specific directory that would be wonderful and would keep the parent directory clear enough. It becomes clumsy when everything syncs into the parent directory. Currently, we need to join it and then move it to the desired folder.62Views0likes3CommentsReturn to the original folder after moving files/folders
Instead of leaving the user in the target folder, return the user to the original folder where the move items came from. Especially helpful if, like most moves, files from a single folder are being moved to various folders.21Views0likes1CommentFolder Customization - Colors, Icons, and More
Wouldn’t it be amazing if we could customize our Dropbox folders to make them more visually appealing and easier to organize? I think adding more options to personalize folders could make a big difference, and I’d love to hear what others think about this idea! Here are a few features I’d suggest: Folder Colors: Imagine being able to color-code your folders—so much easier to spot what you need at a glance! Custom Icons: A simple icon, like a music note for your playlists or a book for your eBooks, could make folders feel more intuitive. This icon could be applied to the already existing folder image, or replace the folder with just an icon. Upload Your Own Images: Personalize your workspace with photos or unique images as folder covers—practical and fun! These tweaks wouldn’t just look great; they’d make organizing and navigating files so much smoother. Plus, other platforms already offer similar options, and it would be awesome to see Dropbox join in! If you think these features would be helpful, let’s make some noise and get Dropbox to consider them. What are your thoughts? Do you have other ideas for folder customization? Let’s chat in the comments and show the Dropbox team how much we’d love this!284Views11likes6CommentsTeam Admin Content view: display folder paths with links to each parent folder
A Team plan Admin can navigate to the Admin console Content view of folders from the regular folder view using the contextual menu "View in admin console". Once in the admin console Content view: There's no link to the containing folder. It would be preferable to have the path to the folder displayed with links to each parent folder: /TeamFolder/Subfolder/Subsubfolder/CurrentFolder The buttons on the right sidebar which include Upload, New folder, and Show deleted files should include the ability to modify the folder settings and sharing, just as can be done to the folder when looking at it from the parent folder's view. Understandable "Move" and "Delete" might not be available here, but "Manage access", "Download", and "Change sync default" could be made available.40Views0likes3CommentsMark document as filed once they are signed
I wanted to inquire about the possibility of adding a feature that allows us to track when a document has been signed and then mark it as filed, once the necessary actions have been completed. Currently, we use Dropbox to track when users have signed the 8879 (the agreement to file their tax return). While we can see when the document is signed, we don't have a system to visually confirm once it has been filed. Right now, the process requires manual verification by checking the document to ensure that it's been filed after signed. I am assuming many customers use the platform for business process like this. This would be a way to attract customers to use the platform for tracking process as well- just by adding a box to check off or categorize. What we are hoping for is a way to easily mark or "check off" the signed document once it has been filed, creating a clear indication that this step has been completed. Ideally, this would allow us to streamline our workflow and reduce the risk of missing this final step. Is there a way to implement such a feature in the system? Please let me know if this makes sense or if any further clarification is needed. Thank you.35Views0likes2CommentsOption for team admin to undo or reject bulk file move request
If a team member (accidentally without knowing) move a large folder (say more than 1GB - or size determined by Admin Manager) send an alert to the Admin Manager to OK or STOP the move before it can take affect. Or when Dropbox sends the bulk data move alert, provide an UNDO option to the Admin Manager as the current alert does not provide detailed info as to what was moved where. Or create a clear emergency alert to warn the member that they are about to action a mass data move, is that what they intend to do - before it takes action. Back story: Our business has an SLA with multiple big companies whereby we are obliged to save their data for at least 5 years. Knowing where to locate a historic file is therefor most important to us. I recently received an alert that 37.5 GB data was moved, and I was only able to trace and restore 12.96 GB. Even with the Dropbox technical assistance, we were unable to locate the move. We have been in business since 2016 and have a team of 30 members who create multiple folders daily. It is virtually impossible to locate a big folder that was accidently dragged and dropped into another folder. The team member who was responsible for the mass data move did not even realize that they had done it.34Views0likes1Comment
