If a team member (accidentally without knowing) move a large folder (say more than 1GB - or size determined by Admin Manager) send an alert to the Admin Manager to OK or STOP the move before it can take affect. Or when Dropbox sends the bulk data move alert, provide an UNDO option to the Admin Manager as the current alert does not provide detailed info as to what was moved where. Or create a clear emergency alert to warn the member that they are about to action a mass data move, is that what they intend to do - before it takes action. Back story: Our business has an SLA with multiple big companies whereby we are obliged to save their data for at least 5 years. Knowing where to locate a historic file is therefor most important to us. I recently received an alert that 37.5 GB data was moved, and I was only able to trace and restore 12.96 GB. Even with the Dropbox technical assistance, we were unable to locate the move. We have been in business since 2016 and have a team of 30 members who create multiple folders daily. It is virtually impossible to locate a big folder that was accidently dragged and dropped into another folder. The team member who was responsible for the mass data move did not even realize that they had done it.15Views0likes1CommentI've never shared my file, yet I received a request from someone to be added to it.
I received a request through Dropbox, to allow a complete stranger to access a file. ...a file I've never shared with anyone, and should only be visible to me. The file is a PNG and is something I named, which is less likely that someone could guess. Its not a complex named file, but too many coincidences. How is someone else able to see the file name, how are they allowed to even make requests for files that were never shared outside of my account? Not maybe .. but NEVER shared, so its not like someone could've sent a share link forward etc.. Given a recent FUBAR configuration problem from dropbox, where it was automatically creating sharelinks for files despite its configuration not to, and that I had to manually go in and delete several hundred links when I discovered the issue, its another concern of a security and privacy violation for a service that is paid to keep our stuff safe. Basic message received: ============= [email removed as per Community Guidelines] wants to access your file "xxxxxxx.png." Share this file with *** to let them view it.33Views0likes2CommentsHow do I upload directly to someone else's folder?
I'm doing some work for a company and would like to upload large files directly to their Dropbox folder. However, I have a free account, and the research I've done makes it sound like I can't join the folder because I don't have enough storage. Do I really have to purchase a subscription just to upload files to someone else's folder? There must be something I'm missing, right?8Views0likes2CommentsHow can I share folders with a non-team member without adding them to my team?

Hello, I'm experiencing an issue with my Dropbox account. I recently integrated Dropbox with Make (formerly Integromat) to automate the upload of invoice PDFs (from Zoho Invoices) into a Dropbox folder. The upload process worked fine, but in the following module to generate a shared link , I received this error: [409] banned_member/.. We have suspended your sharing activity due to a violation of the Terms of Service and the Acceptable Use Policy, as well as the Dropbox Terms of Service or Services Agreement. Additionally, when I try to manually share files from my account via the web interface, I get the message: “Sharing could not be completed – We have interrupted the sharing of your files.” To my knowledge, my usage has been very limited and involved only standard file types such as PDFs, images, and documents. I’m unsure if this restriction occurred as a result of the Make integration or prior to that. Could someone from Dropbox Support please clarify the cause of this restriction and how I can resolve it? Please feel free to email me if you need further details. Thank you in advance for your assistance.20Views0likes1CommentCan't share files because of violation of Terms of Service error
Hi I have had dropbox on my computer for years now although I have not been using it for quite some time. I recently tried to share a new folder and got the message: "We’ve suspended your sharing activity because of a violation of Dropbox’s Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy, and Terms of Service or Services Agreement." I have no idea which of the terms I may have violated or how to fix it. The chatbot wasn't very helpful either. Dropbox still works on my computer and I can see all my storage on the website but I'm just not able to share any files or folders. I would appreciate any assistance in resolving this issue.Solved3.2KViews0likes17CommentsCan I somehow restore deleted shared files from a link I had last year?
Files (videos, large content) were shared with me by a vendor in December 2024 and I was able to download the content then. The vendor has since deleted them from their Dropbox account (not sure which kind of account they have) and is no longer helpful in sharing the original files. The downloaded files were corrupted. Is it possible for Dropbox to find these files still? The original file link is no longer active.11Views0likes1Comment
