I'm frustrated with Dropbox’s new screenshot feature. It seriously disrupts my workflow. Key issues: Keep image in clipboard or allow quick copying Zoom in Markup Editor for detailed editing Copy selections, not just crop Choose default app, not forced Markup Snipping Tool-style features or upgrade the current one yours Alex9Views0likes0CommentsI'd like an automation that creates numbered subfolders inside the parent folder.
I'd like an automation where I create one folder for a job (Folder ABC) and have however many automated subfolders populate inside. So when I create Folder ABC; three subfolders populate named Subfolders 1, 2, & 3 inside of Folder ABC.67Views0likes3CommentsSearch and sort through images with facial recognition
I’m in my final year of high school and my cohort has started a Dropbox to compile everyone’s photos for the whole year. I think it would be really cool to be able to say find all the photos of me, or the photo of me and Person A. Similar of like how you can search by people on the Apple photos app. We have hundreds of photos and sorting through them is tedious. I think this could be a really cool idea.896Views21likes7CommentsFolder/File Automation and Tagging improvements
Add logic to automations via file tags "if file tagged X, rename file with Y". "if file tagged X, convert the file to a different format". "if file tagged X, resize the current image file". "if file tagged X, perform any other automation actions". "if file tagged X (on upload) put a copy of it in folders Y, W and Z" Every file should have a tag associated with it by default when its uploaded via mobile or desktop. We could then build all of our automations based off file tags, regardless of what folder a file is in. Right now its the other way around, automations are built on folders, not the files themselves.49Views2likes4CommentsOption to create a template folder or automation, based on an existing one.
SHORT - We need a to have a template for a shared folder same as we have possibility to create an email template when we want to send same information to many different people. PROBLEM - Every time I create a new shared folder manually with same structure and I cant fill it with empty subfolders automatically, because there's no such automation, so I spend a lot of meaningless time for this creating same 10 empty subfolders foe each new shared folder every time. HOW IT WORKS NOW, EXAMPLE - f/e I need to create 5 new DBX folders for our clients, who will later fill these folders with their documents. For that I create 1 new shared folder(1 action), give it a name(2nd action), add people(3rd action), create 5 subfolders with their original names (5 more actions).. I spend 10 minutes for this and perform 8 actions at least. Then I need to create SAME FOLDER FOR DIFFERENT CLIENT, so I do it again - 10 mins and 8 actions. If I make it for 5-6 clients , I spend an hour. I could copy first folder and rename it, but its not convenient at all as it will immediately land & drown in the list of other 1000 folders in our storage, so I will have to first find it to start working with it. HOW IT COULD WORK - it could be a "automation" called "set up a rule for new folder" - not WNEN it will be filled with files (focus on the files) but ONCE ITS CREATED (focus on a folder). So for example the rule can be - once new folder created - it will have the following newly created empty sub-folders with specific names. OR this could be realized as an option to create a TEMPLATE of the folder - I will set it up one time and then just use it every time I need to create a new folder of this kind. And then would be nice to be able to create more than 1 template for a shared folder. Manageable options in a template-folder could be: name, subfolders (with specific names)/ or pre-uploaded files, maybe even the addresses the folder has to be shared with. That's it, thank you.177Views0likes2CommentsOption to automatically lock a file.
We constantly have issues with conflicted copies! Yes - even though there is the badge that shows up, and even though file locking is an option if done manually. I've done research and MANY other systems support this feature. I've been a long-time Dropbox user, but am looking aggressively at changing due to this issue. It shouldn't have to be a manual process to prevent someone else from opening the same file I am currently working on and saving a conflicted copy. Who would remember to do a manual file lock each and every time they open a document?!44Views1like2CommentsAutomated Photo Sorting by Location (EXIF data)
Currently i use my phone for taking work-related photos as well as personal stuff, of course everything gets uploaded into the Camera Uploads folder. It would be awesome if there was an automation where it could check the EXIF data of each photo and put in a separate folder by location so all my work-related pics would be separated from everything else. Possible?56Views1like3CommentsOption to disable notifications for automations when using the desktop app.
It's been years since this topic came up. Currently it is not possible to disable notifications for any automation, unlike other notifications. I honestly don't understand what's the hold-up here and sincerely ask you to allow me and others to disable them. I do not need them, and it just conditions me to blindly ignore any notifications, even if there would be some that were more important. I don't understand why you think they are that important that they should override user choice.91Views1like4CommentsKeep original file names in camera uploads feature on mobiles
The idea is not to rely in manually uploading all the time. I want to keep my pictures backed up in case of phone loss or damage, but the names are important as I keep the media backups in multiple places and if the names don't coincide, reconciliation is a hassle. I often end up having to double upload and compare pictures manually so I can see if any of them are missing, and delete the ones with names altered by the Dropbox app. This feels like unnecessary work altogether.51Views1like2Comments
