8305 TopicsThe Dropbox app isn't syncing on my Linux computer.
So once again Dropbox is not working on my Fedora 42 box. I went through uninstall and reinstall of the RPM I downloaded from Dropbox. When I go into my apps and click on Dropbox, the file manager opens to the Dropbox directory. But when I copy a file into the directory, it does not show up in Dropbox (checked with the browser app), nor is anything syncing from other of my Dropbox sources. And the dropbox icon is not showing in my Desktop panel, even though I did install the Gnome AppIndicator extension. If I try to open it from the command line I get "permission denied." .dropbox-dist/dropboxd bash: .dropbox-dist/dropboxd: Permission denied I've spent a couple of hours going back and forth on this. There's got to be a right way to do this that I'm not finding anywhere. Thanks.11Views0likes2CommentsSync results under "Your Activity" show yesterday's synced files not today's.
I can see syncing occurring with the dropbox notification icon on the Mac. When I look, syncing runs. When it completes, instead of showing what was just synced, it only shows files synced the previous day under the Yesterday heading. Those synced today or moments ago ought to show up under the Today heading, but nothing ever shows there. To be clear, the recently synced files do not show up under Yesterday, either. This seems like a bug. Because dropbox sometimes takes time to get around to syncing on the desktop, I need to be able to check if it recently synced any files. This behavior of never displaying recently synced files in the Your Activity list is disappointing. The image was captured mid-day, less than 10 minutes after syncing a dozen files. Note that Yesterday heading shows files underneath. The Today heading shows none of the files just synced.164Views0likes19CommentsRequest to retain xembed support for Linux devices.
Dear Sir or Madam, I have been a loyal Dropbox user for over 17 years, since the product was first launched. In the past, it worked seamlessly with xembed on Linux. However, I have noticed that the icon has recently migrated to AppIndicator, which has caused some inconvenience. I would like to kindly request if it would be possible to maintain a version of Dropbox for Linux that still supports the old xembed protocol. I believe there are many Linux users who share this concern. Thank you for considering my request. Kind regards, Guanqun18Views0likes2CommentsIs it possible to have the directory of files visible locally, without downloading them?
I have a new computer and want all my Dropbox files online only (10TB). Is there a way to have the directory of files visible locally without downloading all files? My old desktop was set up to show all the online-only files so if I needed them I could download easily. I could just sync everything and then manually set the folders to online only but this seems like a lot of work just to get a local directory.248Views1like6CommentsCamera Upload thumbnail not showing on mac
I use Smart Sync I'm on a Macbook Air Ventura 13.5.2 I know SmartSync doesn't download the files to your laptop but I'm pretty sure I used to get low-res thumbnails of the images in my Camera Upload folder Since updating to the newest OS that seems to not work anymore and I just see the generic icons now. If I "make it available offline" then it downloads the image and the thumbnail works but I'd love to have a low-res thumbnail so I can tell if I should download it or not.Solved7.1KViews2likes43CommentsI keep receiving annoying sound notifications from my Win11 Dropbox app.
A few days ago, on my Win 11 PC, I started getting Dropbox notifications multiple times a minute. There were small information boxes that appeared for a while. I think that I changed a setting to stop the boxes, but still the annoying tone keeps sounding! I clicked on the icon in the system tray and clicked "pause syncing", but that did not stop the sound. I then clicked on my initials, then Preferences, then Notifications, and then turned off all notifications. The notification sounds (I assume they are notifications of some kind) persisted. The notifications on my Dropbox account (via Chrome) all seem to be email notifications, and probably not relevant. The only way that I can stop the notifications is if I choose the "Quit" option from the app (in the system tray). The syncing seems to be continuous. Mostly just 2 or 3 files, but then all of a sudden it shows over 500 files syncing, then it quickly drops to 2 or 3. I don't know if this is related, but for better security, I recently created an Admin account and downgraded my everyday account to a non-admin account. I think that the Dropbox issues happened before that change, but I am not 100% certain. Any help or ideas would be appreciated!48Views0likes9CommentsThe Dropbox desktop app is stuck at syncing a specific number of files on Windows

I am seeking help. A folder that was visible in my windows explorer seems to have disappeared. I can still see the folder in the browser version, but not in my explorer (which I could 2 days ago.). I checked the availability offline. I chose the selection in my preferences and the folder is ticked. I unticked and reticked it. I deinstalled and reinstalled the app. according to the browser version, I have access to the folder. All hidden files are shown in my explorer. It is a mystery to me and I don't know how this folder just vanished from my windows explorer-desktop app view. I went through the trouble shoots mentioned. Any other idea? thank you.37Views0likes5Comments
