HELP! All our Dropbox files from May annd June are gone. We have checked through the app and online and the most recent files available are from the last week of April. This is catastrophic — my wife and I have used shared files in Dropbox for years and years to track bills, taxes and other critical functions. This has never happened before. If anyone can help, please, I ask for you to chime in, thank you.27Views0likes1CommentDB says I am using 317.2 GB, but I have deleted EVERYTHING
I had a 2TB plan for many years, but in the last year realized I was almost never using it, so I deleted EVERYTHING. I also deleted all the old device connections. Then I switched to the Basic 2GB plan. But DB says I cannot upload anything because I have 317.21 GB of 8.75 GB, and at the top of the page it says "Couldn't sync files. That's because you're using 3,625% storage." I found more stuff in the "Shares" section so I removed ALL of that, and now have spent lots of time clicking on everything in the Dropbox UI looking for stuff to delete -- I think it is all gone now. But this made no difference. It still says my storage is overfull. Help?!Solved161Views0likes3CommentsStop automatic deletion of files when over quota on a Basic plan
I know I am over my storage limit but I do not want Dropbox to automatically delete anything unless I say so. I do not want to upgrade to any plans or do anything else. I just want my files to stay there forever regardless of anything unless I manually delete them myself. I will be so upset if Dropbox deletes anything that belongs to me. I don’t care if it won’t let me sync other files or upload them. The stuff that I have right now, I want them to stay there period. Is there a way to not let Dropbox automatically delete anything unless files just because I am over my limit? I do not want to upgrade to any plans or whatever. I just want my files to stay there no matter what25Views0likes4CommentsSearching for keywords in PDFs that have OCR doesn't return any result.
We recently digitized a bunch of historical materials for our organization and paid extra in the digitization to apply OCR to the PDFs. We then uploaded the files to our Dropbox account for shared storage, with the goal to be able to use Dropbox search to search through the historical materials. For instance, searching the name of one our steering committee members and pulling up all the historical PDFs that the individual was referenced in. However, the search doesn't seem to be working at all. It is the same when I used the Dropbox app on my computer. The only time the search seems to work, is when I open the document locally on my computer, close that document, and then search for a phrase I know is in the PDF. But I have to look at results that are "On My Mac" as opposed to results that are in my Dropbox folder. This isn't a feasible solution for us as there are many PDF documents we want to be able to search and we can't expect our team to have all of those files locally saved. I saw some discussions with similar issues but felt they weren't fully resolved. Please advise, thanks! -Paige71Views0likes5CommentsA bunch of my files went to Zero Bytes on Mac
This issue was posted here like five years ago by a different user and the fix worked for them but I've encountered the issue now and the fix isn't working. Basically, I've got a new Mac, synced all my files from my old Mac but they're mostly showing up as Zero Bytes and they're not openable. I tried going to my preferences->Account->holding down the alt/option key and clicking "Fix Permissions". It prompts me for my computer password, I enter it, it seems to work but doesn't. So I do it again, then I receive the error message in Dropbox: "Dropbox was unable to fix permissions in your Dropbox. Please contact support if the problem persists." I'm on the basic plan, so I don't have access to proper support (bad show, guys) so I'm hoping someone can help.942Views0likes6CommentsSpace usage not accurate?
Hi, I am a free, non paid user. I recognize that I get up to 2Gb free storage space ... cool. I use it for a second online backup for mission critical home files, almost all only text, no images or videos or any files whatsoever that take up space. In testing, I checked the volume of saved files, and confirmed that I am using about 1.5Gb of space. Been like this for years. Yesterday, I updated these files to reflect a couple recent additions, minor text files, Kb in space used. Dropbox bumped up what it sees as the amount of space used, so it now thinks I am using almost 7Gb of space. I triple checked the two files totaling about 100Kb of space of new files, and even deleted a couple hundred Mb or no longer needed files ... but this number did not change, even after 24 hours. The problem is I lose sync capabilities, and receive endless, annoying popups that I can upgrade to a paid plan, which I dont need. I again ... then downloaded every file into a folder on my desktop, and tested the space used, and found out this was 1.4Gb, reflecting the addition of the two files and the above deletion of a couple hundred Kb old files. I tried permanently deleting all deleted files, and quadruple checked every dropbox folder for any files using up this space, but there literally is none. Every other Dropbox added access folder is empty. Dropbox is outwardly lying and scamming the amount of space I am using, to try to sell me a plan I dont want or need. QUESTION: has anyone else seen this behaviour, or know any tricks to make the interface show the actual amount of space used? Obviously given the scummies-ness of this behaviour, IF I was in the market for additional online storage ... I would never use dropbox ... not now.25Views0likes1CommentMoving files out of Dropbox now defaults to the 'copy' function.
Hi Any news about this? (There's a thread with the exact same name on this forum, but I can neither answer there anymore, nor post the link here - go figure) I [removed] despise this change. Is there still nothing we can do, e.g. in registry? Thank youSolved70Views0likes2Comments
