I accidentally deleted some files from my computer and I can't restore them.

Hi,

Apologies if this has been asked or discussed elsewhere in this forum.
It appears that I have accidentally deleted some files from a folder on my PC, which is synced to Dropbox.
If I checked the events on the website, it indeed shows that the files were deleted, and the time also checks out.
However, I cannot find the files in either Dropbox's recycle bin or my local PC's recycle bin.

I want to recover those files. Can anybody help?
Thanks!

Thanks for posting on our forum, alesmana! Let’s have a look.

When referring to Dropbox’s recycle bin, I’m guessing you mean the Deleted files page. Correct?

Can you clarify when these files got deleted precisely and what’s your current plan (as shown here)?

Finally, I’d like a screenshot of what you see at your Events page.

Ping me, once you have more info.

    Hi Nancy ,

Thank you for responding to the post.

Yes, I meant the deleted files page,

This happened around 6 hours ago, I was cleaning up my dropbox folder so I organized some files into folders and deleted some files which are no longer relevant, there was a point when a message popped up saying that a file could not be deleted because it was opened, I noticed that said file in the message was not supposed to be deleted, that's when I checked and realized that all of the files from the folder had been deleted, although strangely, the subfolders were not deleted, only the files therein.

I checked the recycle bin and Dropbox deleted files and cannot find those files, although I can see the other files that were deleted around the same time.

I can confirm that those files were deleted because I can see the deletion in the activity, as shown in the screenshots.

This is just a few lines of the activity.

Hope this clarifies, let me know if you want to know more.

and again, thanks for helping, I really appreciate it.

    Hi Mark ,

Thanks for pointing that out, I wasn't aware of the Dropbox event page.
I have just checked there, and I saw some of the files that I deleted, but only a very few. I have restored the ones that are available on that page, but still missing a lot.

Thanks for the extra info, alesmana

Are you sure that the files were deleted indeed and not moved to another location within your Dropbox account? In general, if a file is moved, this will also be reflected as a deletion from the original folder and an addition to the new one (at your Events page).
