Right click context menu disappeared after update to 224.4.4811

Following the most recent Dropbox update  the Dropbox icons no longer appear in the context menu on right-clicking a file. These were very useful, allowing me to copy a link directly without going to the website. I've tried re-installing Dropbox, and editing the registry to move Dropbox items further up the context menu list, but nothing has worked. I'm using Win 11.

Any ideas on how to get these useful menu items back?

  • Hi Megan

Many thanks for those suggestions. I had already made the registry changes but with no success, and the permissions were already set as recommended.  However, after doing the uninstall/reinstall following the steps you outlined I now have the right click menu items back.

    Thanks a lot.

Hi Konishiki1745, welcome to our Community!

Did you have any other OS updates recently, right before this issue occurred?

If you look at your system tray, do you see a small Dropbox icon, next to your WiFi? If so, can you hover your mouse over it, and let my know the syncing status it reports?

It might sound trivial, but have you tried to re-start your device at all?

    Keep me updated.

Hi Megan, thanks for the reply.

There have been no other OS updates recently. I can see the Dropbox icon and the synching status is 'Dropbox 224.4.4811 Up to date'. Yes, I have tried restarting multiple times. The issues seems to have started with the most recent Dropbox update a week or so ago.

    Thanks,

    Chris

Hey Konishiki1745, thanks for the heads up!

Just wanted to make sure that you've already followed these steps, right?

If so, then I'd also suggest one last thing which would be to fix the level of permissions when the Dropbox application was installed.

A user shared the relevant steps here. If this doesn't resolve your issue, let me know, and we'll take it from there.
