I have a number of JPG files which show up on my PC in my Dropbox folder but I am unable to open, however if I log onto my account online I can open them there. When I look at the file properties it shows up as 3.85MB but says size on disk as 0 bytes. Is it saying that my download is only a pointer and if so how can I change it. It must be said that this does not apply to all my JPG files only someSolved85Views0likes4CommentsAccess to "overfilled" Dropbox
I have been using the free version of Dropbox and the automatic backups I had set overfilled it. Now I can't get into Dropbox to remove files or change what backups are made. If I click on Dropbox, it only shows a pdf file (not mine) and nothing else. In the bottom left corner of the screen is a message in pink showing that I have exceeded the storage limit. However, there is no option for actually accessing my files for deletion or changing anything in my account. A young man on Dropbox's help chat got me to a point where I could see the files, but I was unable to delete or download any of them. Very frustrating.31Views0likes1CommentCannot download older versions of files from the site, error 400
My phone corrupted one of my Excel files, so I want to download an older version on my PC to replace the corrupt file, but I get an error 400 when I try to access the list of versions. Does this mean is so corrupt that I can't open an older version?42Views0likes3CommentsSearching for keywords in PDFs that have OCR doesn't return any result.
We recently digitized a bunch of historical materials for our organization and paid extra in the digitization to apply OCR to the PDFs. We then uploaded the files to our Dropbox account for shared storage, with the goal to be able to use Dropbox search to search through the historical materials. For instance, searching the name of one our steering committee members and pulling up all the historical PDFs that the individual was referenced in. However, the search doesn't seem to be working at all. It is the same when I used the Dropbox app on my computer. The only time the search seems to work, is when I open the document locally on my computer, close that document, and then search for a phrase I know is in the PDF. But I have to look at results that are "On My Mac" as opposed to results that are in my Dropbox folder. This isn't a feasible solution for us as there are many PDF documents we want to be able to search and we can't expect our team to have all of those files locally saved. I saw some discussions with similar issues but felt they weren't fully resolved. Please advise, thanks! -Paige71Views0likes5CommentsDesktop files have disappeared after logging off the app
I have a client who has either had the Dropbox client removed, or has been logged off. The result is his files has disappeared from the locations that he had synced(?) to dropbox. e.g. Desktop, Downloads, Documents. When he logs into Dropbox through the Web, they are there, but when he installed the client back onto his Mac, the files did not sync back. Is there a way to rectify this situation?A deleted file still appears and allows it to download from the site
Hello, I often experience a behavior that I understand is not correct. I have a folder A where I have several PDF files numbered with a numeric sufix, I delete one of those PDF files from the web (dropbox.com), I click to change folders to folder B, I click to go back to folder A and the file is still there (despite having deleted it before and receiving a confirmation message), and the worst thing is that it also lets me download it. I think I remember that it doesn't let me do other actions with it, it gives an error, but it does let me download it. It also happens when I delete the file from the App (in this case Android) and I visit the web version, where it has not been synchronized and the file still appears in the list. I understand that if a file has been deleted it should not let me download it even though due to cache problems or reloading of the web page it appears in the folder even though it has been previously deleted. If it has been deleted it no longer exists, that's understandable. I use dropbox to save and download unique items that I deliver later. That is, when I download a PDF then I delete and I consider it delivered (and deleted). It's a queue of documents to be processed and deleted. With this anomalous behavior, I can end up delivering the same single document to two different recipients, which causes me a lot of inconvenience. I hope you take note of this and can fix it, since the application is by far the best over its competition, but this error is causing me a lot of problems. a group of us have a shared folder. files are uploaded to it and stay there for a week to a month and then they are deleted and then replaced w/ new files. I'd like to copy any new files posted to that folder to my local hard drive and KEEP them, even if they are deleted on Dropbox. is this possible?819Views0likes3Comments
