I am running Dropbox on a MacBook Air M2 running Sequoia 15.5. When I opened up the Mac this morning, it prompted me to update the Dropbox app - which I did. I now find that Time Machine will not backup with the message Time Machine cannot back up because some Dropbox files have not finished syncing. I've tried quitting Dropbox, taking it out of the login items and restarting, but it makes no difference. Before I just delete Dropbox (I only use it for a small number of files shared with others), is there anything I can try?20Views0likes2CommentsHow to enable Dropbox desktop notifications on MacBook Air?
When I save files on Dropbox, the icon in the menu bar on the MacBook does show that there is activity. I do have Settings>Allow Notifications for Dropbox enabled to show 'Alerts'. The problem is that I would like to see the larger 'Alerts' on Mac displayed but I'm only getting the small icon on the menu bar activity alert. Please can someone advise me? Thank you in advance.163Views0likes12CommentsDropbox Backup - stuck updating one file
I am backing up an external drive on macos and it seems to be stuck updating a pdf that has a hash for the filename - probably a mail attachment deep in a mail directory. Unlike a couple of toher files, where VBackup has alerted me to illegal characters, there is no notificaiton. Aside from searching for that file and renaming it (it won't be the only one for sure). where are the Dropbox Backup log files stored? I've looked in ~/Library/Application Support/Dropbox and in /Library/Application Support but I don't see any logs or Backup, only some binary logs for Dropbox. thanks, Julian29Views0likes3CommentsMy computer is registered twice on my Security page and I cannot remove it as I'm getting an error
Hello, For some reason, my computer (Mac OS) is registered twice on my dropbox account. I have tried uninstalling dropbox from the computer, but that doesn't seem to help. I have tried unlinking it from the web UI under Security > Devices, but every time I try, I get a little error notification that says "Failed to unlink [computer]. Please try again later." Any thoughts on how I can resolve this? Thanks!18Views0likes1CommentThe Dropbox folder on my business user profile is missing the Dropbox icon (top right corner)
I just moved to a new MACbook Air. Latest OS system. I keep 2 profile on the computer; one for business and one for personal. I use the same Dropbox account for both purposes. I added the account to my personal profile and everything worked as planned. I then went in to the business profile, added Dropbox App and the files came over so I could see them but the icon that I use all the time in the top right hand corner of the finder window is nowhere to be found. I went in to settings as clicked all the buttons around "login extensions" for Dropbox but still not visible. Rebooted 2x as well. See photos of one with the dropdown open the other does not have the icon. One additional item, in the second account I chose the folders I wanted to have be available locally but they all show in the cloud. Not sure why this happened. If I cannot solve this I may have to move to another Cloud provider. I am very frustrated that even with a paid account for 2TB of data there is no one to speak with or chat with. Big mistake for Dropbox loyalty. Thanks for your help. Mark Top photo is Personal account with the icon and dropdown box. the second photo is the Business account without this icon I am trying to add.49Views0likes4CommentsHow can I make sure Dropbox doesn't sync my old files to the website upon connecting the app?
I've used Dropbox for at least a decade and have it on all my devices: iMac, laptops, phone. Recently my main laptop suffered a catastrophic iced-tea baptism and since then, I've been working temporarily off an emergency backup MacAir (2013; Big Sur 11.17.10) that had not been touched in 5 years. When I fired it up I disconnected Dropbox sync to make sure nothing bad happened. Now I need some of those files to sync. What was in my Dropbox 5 years ago is very different from now! So how can I set up a limited sync in a way that it ony comes down to my temporary machine and upload to destroy all my current files? Will the current version of Dropbox even work with Big Sur? If yes, what should I do to make sure nothing in the old Dropbox on the backup laptop syncs up?Solved74Views0likes5CommentsCan't create new folder in Dropbox folder in Mac
Hello, I'm on Macbook running Sequoia 15.4 I can't create a New folder inside the Dropbox folder. As you can see in the screenshot below, the New Folder option is being greyed out. This is so frustrating because I can create a new folder just fine on any other folder outside Dropbox. Fyi, I can create a new folder just fine in Web Dropbox. DropBox was installed with the Admin account. Therefore, it has admin privileges.Solved28Views0likes5Comments
