When I save files on Dropbox, the icon in the menu bar on the MacBook does show that there is activity. I do have Settings>Allow Notifications for Dropbox enabled to show 'Alerts'. The problem is that I would like to see the larger 'Alerts' on Mac displayed but I'm only getting the small icon on the menu bar activity alert. Please can someone advise me? Thank you in advance.163Views0likes12CommentsThe Dropbox folder on my business user profile is missing the Dropbox icon (top right corner)
I just moved to a new MACbook Air. Latest OS system. I keep 2 profile on the computer; one for business and one for personal. I use the same Dropbox account for both purposes. I added the account to my personal profile and everything worked as planned. I then went in to the business profile, added Dropbox App and the files came over so I could see them but the icon that I use all the time in the top right hand corner of the finder window is nowhere to be found. I went in to settings as clicked all the buttons around "login extensions" for Dropbox but still not visible. Rebooted 2x as well. See photos of one with the dropdown open the other does not have the icon. One additional item, in the second account I chose the folders I wanted to have be available locally but they all show in the cloud. Not sure why this happened. If I cannot solve this I may have to move to another Cloud provider. I am very frustrated that even with a paid account for 2TB of data there is no one to speak with or chat with. Big mistake for Dropbox loyalty. Thanks for your help. Mark Top photo is Personal account with the icon and dropdown box. the second photo is the Business account without this icon I am trying to add.49Views0likes4CommentsHow can I make sure Dropbox doesn't sync my old files to the website upon connecting the app?
I've used Dropbox for at least a decade and have it on all my devices: iMac, laptops, phone. Recently my main laptop suffered a catastrophic iced-tea baptism and since then, I've been working temporarily off an emergency backup MacAir (2013; Big Sur 11.17.10) that had not been touched in 5 years. When I fired it up I disconnected Dropbox sync to make sure nothing bad happened. Now I need some of those files to sync. What was in my Dropbox 5 years ago is very different from now! So how can I set up a limited sync in a way that it ony comes down to my temporary machine and upload to destroy all my current files? Will the current version of Dropbox even work with Big Sur? If yes, what should I do to make sure nothing in the old Dropbox on the backup laptop syncs up?Solved74Views0likes5CommentsThe Dropbox menu shows under a different Dropbox path on my Mac, and not the one shown under "Sync".
Hey! My dropbox files of a new account are located in the following: And if i right-click on files, it doesnt show dropbox sharing menu (i've already check finder extensions). Thing is, there is another a dropbox folder located under ~library/cloud storage/dropbox And this one truly works (sharing menu, right-click, etc). But this is an account from my previous work. I shouldn't have access to this anymore... Can you please tell me what to do?125Views0likes9CommentsThe dropdown context menu (right-click on Mac) isn't showing
Dropbox's added dropdown menu options (like “Copy Dropbox link…” and “make online only” etc.) that show via right-click on Mac Finder window are suddenly absent. May this have anything to do with recently having unlinked and re-linked my Dropbox? I did a re-link two weeks ago per a DropBox Tech's suggestion, troubleshooting a different issue. Now I have two different Dropbox accounts. The new dropbox is visible in my Finder, the old one’s in ~/Library/Cloud Storage. Can I just delete that old one? Might that fix the issue?150Views0likes23CommentsCan I have the Dropbox for macOS on File Provider app if my home folder is on an external drive?
I am hoping to get some clarification on the current capabilities of dropbox to support file provider mode on macOS Sequoia. My current set up is such that my home folder is migrated to an external SSD, formatted appropriately in a APFS encrypted. On my dropbox settings, I am constantly asked to update to file provider, but when I go through with this, it seems like nothing actually happens. I am reading conflicting reports that this is still only available to beta testers to which I am not, but the option still exist for me to upgrade to file provider. Is this an error and I'm not eligible? Am I doing something wrong? Thanks in advance100Views0likes6CommentsAll my files are available offline on File Provider, but their folders appear to be online-only.
Using Dropbox v224.4.4811, I updated so that I am now using File Provider. Things work as expected (I think), in that the files are now in ~/Library/CloudStorage/Dropbox. I always default to files being available offline. After letting everything finish changing over, and then restarting my computer as well as the Dropbox app my problem is this: I can visually verify that individual files are indeed on my drive, and the individual files show the green checkmark icon. But EVERY folder on my Dropbox shows the cloud-with-arrow "Not Downloaded" icon. And when I hover over it, a popup says "Not Downloaded." Even though everything inside IS downloaded. If I click on the icon, nothing happens. When I use the contextual menu to select "make available offline," nothing happens. This is because the files inside are indeed offline and local. A search indicates that this might be a "visual bug." But I'm here to say that if it is, this needs to be resolved pronto. I've used Dropbox for over a decade because I never had to worry about whether something was where I thin kit is, and now I have to dig into a folder hierarchy just to be absolutely sure something is local. Any ideas on how to fix this? If I ultiamtely have to take on a new cognitive load make sure my files are where I need them to keep using Dropbox, I'll just use something else.78Views0likes4CommentsWill renaming the external drive my Dropbox folder is on cause any issues?
Hello community! I hope you can help me: I have my Dropbox folder on an external hard disk and would now like to change the name of this hard disk (not the name of the dropbox folder).
