43 TopicsMore efficient method to share/unshare folders/files
Reviving this closed suggestion from two years ago. The current method of sharing folders is painfully slow, especially if you have a group of users where only certain users get access to certain folders. You have to go person-by-person to add, delete or change the type of access. Each time you submit, it takes several seconds to update one user. It is especially cumbersome when the members change frequently (people leave/join a group.) I suggest a "bulk" or "batch" method of changing sharing of folders using checkboxes or buttons. When you click on the share icon for a folder, it would bring up a popup window showing all existing share members, their options, and the ability to change attributes, and add new members. Here's a sample view of the window. The same technique can be used for files too.75Views1like2CommentsOption for team admin to undo or reject bulk file move request
If a team member (accidentally without knowing) move a large folder (say more than 1GB - or size determined by Admin Manager) send an alert to the Admin Manager to OK or STOP the move before it can take affect. Or when Dropbox sends the bulk data move alert, provide an UNDO option to the Admin Manager as the current alert does not provide detailed info as to what was moved where. Or create a clear emergency alert to warn the member that they are about to action a mass data move, is that what they intend to do - before it takes action. Back story: Our business has an SLA with multiple big companies whereby we are obliged to save their data for at least 5 years. Knowing where to locate a historic file is therefor most important to us. I recently received an alert that 37.5 GB data was moved, and I was only able to trace and restore 12.96 GB. Even with the Dropbox technical assistance, we were unable to locate the move. We have been in business since 2016 and have a team of 30 members who create multiple folders daily. It is virtually impossible to locate a big folder that was accidently dragged and dropped into another folder. The team member who was responsible for the mass data move did not even realize that they had done it.33Views0likes1CommentWhen creating a shared link allow for the file name to be shown -like a hyperlink- and not a URL.
In order to share a file or folder you get a url link which you have to paste it in your document or e-mail. Could be a way when you paste the link instead of the url, to see just the actual file name ?50Views0likes4CommentsOption to add team members to groups from the "Members" tab in Admin Console
When adding a Member to Groups in Dropbox Teams, it's necessary to go into each Group and add the Member. It is possible to remove a Member from multiple groups by clicking the X next to each Group from their Member page. It would be nice to be able to add a user to multiple groups from this location. Use case: We have multiple Groups for different teams and roles. Thank-you!26Views0likes1CommentRemove the delete ability from external user(s)
PLEASE allow us to restrict the ability of external users to delete files and folders in a shared folder. I just ran into an issue where a user, that had edit permission, deleted all of the files and folders in a shared folder. Allow us to restrict the ability to delete by users. Or change the view permission to upload files and folders. This seems so easy to do, yet it doesn't happen. If I'm missing a setting, please enlighten me. Thank you.83Views0likes4CommentsNotification/warning when closing a locked file
My idea is about locked files and the problem that people forget to unlock it after they're done working in it. To avoid that people forget to unlock a file after they close it, it would be nice that you get a warning about the file still being locked when you close it. (in the same way an application asks you if you want to save changes before closing it) This notification would avoid the problem that a file stays locked for hours or days without reason, just because someone forgot to unlock it.40Views0likes3CommentsAllow multiple Dropbox Transfer owners or to have the ability to send a Transfer as a team.
Would like to see a way to share ownership of a Transfer. We have a team that uses Transfer regularly to send files externally, but have no way for those team members to know what each person sent (they are not admins, nor should they be). Is it possible to create co-owners of Transfers to allow multiple individuals to manage Transfers together? Or send Transfers from a "team" rather than an individual user?35Views0likes2CommentsBe able to select multiple files from a shared link (to download).
I recceived a shared Dropbox link from a family member. Using a browser, I can open the shared link and view or download individual files. I can also download ALL files in the shared link. However, I cannot select multiple files to download. When viewing the files that I own, I can select multiple files. This same functionality should be available with files available from a shared link.31Views0likes2CommentsGive us the option to export the email addresses of shared files' members to a .csv file.
I previously mentioned this to your support team on X, but I wanted to suggest it again having the ability to export the email addresses of users who can view or edit shared files as a .csv file or similar format would be extremely useful.50Views0likes3Comments
