Hi rebel93465, since you mentioned that the screenshots shows that it's an unlinked Dropbox folder, are you certain that the Dropbox desktop application is signed into the correct account as on the Dropbox site?
Are you looking at the correct Dropbox folder on your device? Could you use these steps to locate it?

I am signed into the correct account and all my files are in my dropbox folder in my finder. I simply cannot DOWLOAD them from the dropbox server (where you store them) I click on ANY file and nothing happens.
This is why I asked if I shold delete the folder and start over. I reinstalled tje app WitHOUT deleting the file folder of my dropbox files on the macbook.

Do the files in Finder have any sync icons on them? When you click the icon in the menu bar, what is the current status of the Dropbox desktop application on the bottom left?

Heres a screen shot. when I click on thr download icon nothing happens. It doesnt even spin or change color.
And there is no status button ANYWHERE for dropbox on the desktop other than above in system tray

Could you try right clicking the file first and choose 'Available offline' to see if this downloads the file?
