I use Smart Sync I'm on a Macbook Air Ventura 13.5.2 I know SmartSync doesn't download the files to your laptop but I'm pretty sure I used to get low-res thumbnails of the images in my Camera Upload folder Since updating to the newest OS that seems to not work anymore and I just see the generic icons now. If I "make it available offline" then it downloads the image and the thumbnail works but I'd love to have a low-res thumbnail so I can tell if I should download it or not.Solved7.1KViews2likes43CommentsThe Dropbox desktop app is stuck at syncing a specific number of files on Windows

I am seeking help. A folder that was visible in my windows explorer seems to have disappeared. I can still see the folder in the browser version, but not in my explorer (which I could 2 days ago.). I checked the availability offline. I chose the selection in my preferences and the folder is ticked. I unticked and reticked it. I deinstalled and reinstalled the app. according to the browser version, I have access to the folder. All hidden files are shown in my explorer. It is a mystery to me and I don't know how this folder just vanished from my windows explorer-desktop app view. I went through the trouble shoots mentioned. Any other idea? thank you.38Views0likes5Comments"There was an error downloading your file" message online. And the app hasn't synced for 9 days.
As of today I have been unable to download a file from Dropbox onto my PC. I've also noticed that the Desktop app hasn't synced in 9 days. This issue is occurring on 2 different PCs and on different browsers. Windows 10 and 11. It keeps saying there was an error downloading your file.75Views0likes2CommentsWOPI Version of .xlsm files opening in Desktop App. Why is this happening?
Hello, With zero support from Dropbox Advanced support, I'm hoping as a community anyone can provide some guidance. I have a user in my organization who in the desktop app cannot open and edit xlsm files, no one else in our organization has this issue. According to ChatGPT, the file(s) and not corrupted and it is not a Microsoft issue. All xlsm files for this user are offline files. I employed autoruns and unchecked some Dropbox extensions to force open xlsm files as 'local' files without Dropbox trying to open the WOPI version, which is unusable. We have thousands xlsm files we use daily, and cannot nor should have to copy each file over to this users' desktop and copy them back to the desktop app as that is a huge waste of time. I'm confused why he is the only user that is impacted this way and hoping someone can provide some solutions so this user can use xlsm files in the desktop just like the rest of us. Thank you in advanced.233Views0likes12CommentsCannot preview online-only files in the Dropbox folder in Windows 11
I have my Dropbox app installed on my Windows 11 computer and can see my files in my dropbox folder in File Explorer. However, I cannot preview a PDF file in File Explorer on the Preview Pane UNLESS I open the file first and a green check mark appears next to the file. If the file is set to Online, or I don't open the file first, I cannot preview it. Just as an FYI, I can preview all files that are on my PC, or PDF files in my Dropbox folder that have a green checkmark, but preview does not come up on Dropbox files that don't have the green checkmark. Is there a way to preview these files without opening them or saving them on my PC first?Solved51Views1like2CommentsExport a list of files in shared folders
Experts, I'm in a Family Plan working on a book project with 2 other users. Part of my job is to cross check a number of text and caption files for references to (roughly) 800 pictures. The image files are in directories "owned" by the respective users. To do the cross checks I need a current list of all the image file names. I gather from reading the Community that Dropbox does not support this unless one writes/finds/uses API code with that function. I am hoping for an easier way. I've read that the recommended easy way is to synchronize my desktop to the required directories and then use regular system listing and sorting commands. To be safe I don't want write access via the synchronized desktop directories/files. All I want and need is a way to do a listing of the contents of the directories via a read access. Can somebody tell me if this can be done and how? Thank you, Mike1.4KViews0likes5CommentsDropbox not showing jpg or png preview thumbnails in Windows Explorer
Hi all. My company uses Dropbox to store all files. With windows 11, the desktop Dropbox app will not immediately show jpg or png images on the preview pane. Yes. I have it checked to show previews. I can see the preview for other apps like Corel Draw and acrobat. The preview will eventually show if I click on a different file and then go back to the JPG, but that's not an efficient way to work. I will also note, the issue only seems to be with the preview pane. If I use some of the other view presets, I can see the preview. For example, with the icon view setting, the image preview will show up. Does anyone have some fixes other then deleting the app? It's becoming quite an irritating issue. It worked with other window version, but since 11, is where I started noticing it more and more. And it's only with Dropbox. If I view files stored on my computer, I can see the preview in the preview pane. So I'm confused to why I can see Corel Draw, Acrobat, etc, but not JPG and PNGs when using Dropbox. And it's only with certain view presets. So is it file explorer or Dropbox? My screenshots are no longer landing in the download folder on my MAC. The folks at Apple through that they might be being intercepted by a Dropbox download folder. Does that make any sense and if it does how do I keep my screenshots local on my MAC?Solved82Views0likes4Comments
