Retain the original file name when uploading content using camera uploads.
Automatic uploads keeps remaining files. Please allow to keep the original file name when uploading. This makes the files harder to manage as I cannot search for their original names anymore.

This should have been a function long time ago.
Maybe have an option in camera-upload settings to keep the original filename or choose a format to automatically rename files. - Mark4 months ago

Its been requested lots and lots of times but never implemented. However I'd suggest finding any topics on it over in the Ideas forum and adding them there.

Thanks Megan,
Well, the idea is not to rely in manually uploading all the time. I want to keep my pictures backed up in case of phone loss or damage, but the names are important as I keep the media backups in multiple places and if the names don't coincide, reconciliation is a hassle.
I often end up having to double upload and compare pictures manually so I can see if any of them are missing, and delete the ones with names altered by the Dropbox app. This feels like unnecessary work altogether.

Hi username-123 welcome to our Community!
Your comments regarding our camera uploads have been quite helpful, and I will do everything I can to ensure that your voice is heard.
I'll forward your feedback to the appropriate areas so we can continue to improve.
Have you tried manually uploading the file instead of using camera uploads?
I'd also suggest as an alternative to manually upload the photos to a folder with an automation or naming convention applied to it.
Keep me updated!
