"You're out of storage" message on a shared folder when space is available.
A user that has "Can edit" access to one of our shared Dropbox folders is getting a "You're out of storage" message when trying to add files. However, we have 98%+ of our 2 Tb free which is far more than enough for the files that they are trying to add.
Any idea what might cause this please?

YOU have enough space in your account. They do not. As Megan mentioned, every member of a shared folder has their own copy of the folder in their account, taking up space. Anything they add to the folder needs to fit within their account's available space; not just yours.
If they're out of space and don't want to upgrade, you can send them a File Request instead. They'll be able to upload files directly to your account, no Dropbox account needed.

Thanks! This worked.

Hi User7654321, you can ask the owner of the shared folder to create a shared link to the folder.
This will allow you access it, even without a Dropbox account, and download the files in the folder to your machine.

What if I just want to download files from a shared folder? I don't use dropbox but a photographer I hired is trying to share the photos I paid for through dropbox. Is there anyway for me to just download them without having to pay for an account? I don't want to store the photos with dropbox.

Thank you both. Understood. I'll try the File Request option.
Thank you for your help.

Hey AdminAtStSimons, let's jump right into this!
Keep in mind that when joining a shared folder, each member basically adds it to their Dropbox account. This is why it takes up space from it like any other personal file would, unless you're both part of the same Dropbox team. You can read more about this here.
With that in mind, can you clarify if the member has enough storage space in their account, in order to add new content?
Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there!
