Dropbox website is freezing when accessing through Firefox and Safari

Hi,

Logged in to my Dropbox account via browser this morning and was hoping to create a Link to share the contents of a folder created yesterday. Dropbox appears to freeze immediately after clicking on the Create Link icon.

If I click the icon a second time the browser displays the message "This page is slowing down Firefox. To speed up your browser, stop this page." with a Stop button beside the message.

This also happens whenever I click any of the other button like Create folder etc.

This happens when I have selected "All Folders" and want to create a new folder and when I have selected the folder I created yesterday.

If I select a folder created prior to yesterday, I am able to create the required Link and Create Folders within the selected folder.

It happens regardless of which browser I am using (Firefox and Safari).

Something is not right somewhere. Anyone else having this or similar problems?

  • Hannah I was able to delete the problem folder this morning (it was still exhibiting the odd issues from yesterday). I have created a new folder and uploaded the photos again and all is now working correctly.

Sorry to see that you're having this issue, mharpsnz.

I wasn't able to reproduce this issue on my end; can you please clear your browsers' cache to see if that helps?

Also, try from a private browsing window and let me know what you find.

    Thanks.

Hannah Cleared the cache and the same thing happened. Trying a Private browser window results in me not being able to login because a 2 factor authentication message was not able to be sent. Also now getting the same 2 factor error when trying to login with Safari in a non private window.

Hannah There was an update to the app that I installed yesterday which part of the info displayed mentioned better integration of APIs with Mac iOS. It also mention files were going to be moved as well. Is it possible that screwed up something somewhere?

I also am not able to now delete the folder I created yesterday because of this issue and am not able to create a new folder in "All Files" via the web page so am not now able to reproduce the creation of a new folder and add files to it as I did yesterday.

Hannah another strange thing is that the preview of the first image in the problem folder is displayed in a preview under the heading "Suggested for you". That first image is flickering constantly. No other images displayed in the same area flicker.

After clicking "All files" and have the folders displayed in the main window when I highlight the offending folder and click "Quick view", the quick view panel is displayed correctly, no images flickering in it and I can copy the link to share with others.

    This whole thing is weird.
