I got this message via email Some content currently shared with you that’s owned by the xxx team on Dropbox will be permanently deleted i don't recall being part of a Dropbox team and this folder was owned by me, not anyone else. looking up in my account avatar, i am not a member of any team. i have no idea why i got this email, but now I'm missing a very important folder and i cant find a way to retrieve it. Dropbox allegedly has the option of retrieving deleted files within 30 days less than 2 weeks have passed since receiving this mysterious email but the files are not in the deleted files folder....!!!! and i cant find a way to contact anyone in Dropbox support to sort this out. Reviving this closed suggestion from two years ago. The current method of sharing folders is painfully slow, especially if you have a group of users where only certain users get access to certain folders. You have to go person-by-person to add, delete or change the type of access. Each time you submit, it takes several seconds to update one user. It is especially cumbersome when the members change frequently (people leave/join a group.) I suggest a "bulk" or "batch" method of changing sharing of folders using checkboxes or buttons. When you click on the share icon for a folder, it would bring up a popup window showing all existing share members, their options, and the ability to change attributes, and add new members. Here's a sample view of the window. The same technique can be used for files too.73Views1like2CommentsHow can I restore a shared folder owned by a deleted Dropbox team account?
Hi! Dropbox deleted one folder. How can I restore it? I had received an email from Dropbox informing me that the folder was going to be deleted, but that email was in the Spam folder so I had no time to backup all the information of that folder. Now I need to restore all the information of this folder. Could you please help me?64Views0likes10CommentsSome of my Dropbox shared content has been deleted, without the option to restore.
Hi, I received several messages stating that our Dropbox storage was full, and another email stating that some content would be permanently deleted on June 4, 2025. I figured it was a storage problem, so I backed up most of the files and deleted them from Dropbox to clear storage. But that didn't help, and I found out on Sunday that VERY important folders that I didn't back up had been deleted without an option to restore. Is there any way to receive a backup of our Dropbox from June 3, 2025? We are willing to pay for the service if needed, it's very important for us to restore and back up the deleted folders. Our Dropbox isn't a private account, it's an account of a nonprofit NGO and most of our data was in those folders. I made the mistake of deleting my "recent" folder on my Mac. Then I emptied the trash. I lost all of the files I had used in the last 3 months or so. The local Mac store can't find them. I am still within my 30 days, but I can't figure out what to do. (If I deleted that that, you know I am not a sophisticated user. If it is possible to get them back, I will need step by step instructions. AB.21Views0likes1CommentI got an email from Dropbox stating some files would be deleted on 05/26, but I can't find them.
Hi Dropbox Support and Community, I received an email from Dropbox notifying me that some content shared with me by the Love Team will be permanently deleted on May 26, 2025. The email included a CSV file listing the shared content, but when I check my Dropbox account, I no longer see any of the files or folders. The shared folder appears empty. Unfortunately, I no longer have access to the original email account the folder was shared with, so I can’t request a fresh invite or get a new link. However, I’m still logged into the Dropbox account that received the shared content originally, and I do have the CSV file that lists all the file names and locations. Is there any way for Dropbox support to help me recover access to those files or re-enable the shared links before the May 26 deadline? These files contain photos I’d really like to keep, and I’m hoping there’s still a way to retrieve them. Thank you in advance for any help or guidance.632Views0likes14CommentsSee full list of deleted files?
Hi there! when looking at deleted files, Dropbox only shows me this type of summary: However, I do not see a way to list all those files, which I want to do, to make sense of what got deleted there, without having to restore it. Is there a way to list all those files that were deleted there? Thanks LuC40Views0likes3CommentsThere's a .canary file causing syncing issues on my Dropbox app.
Hey all! My local backup software failed out yesterday - it reported that there was a file in use in Dropbox. I poked around and found that ".canary" in my Dropbox cache was marked with the syncing icon (round blue arrows). There was also a file "canary.enabled", but that one seemed to be static. When I delete the ".canary" file, it simply reappears. This file doesn't show up on my online account (natch). I can see it on my two linked computers, my desktop (Win 11) and laptop (Win 10). Both are running app version 214.3.5104. I have a basic (free) account. Anyone know what's going on with this canary file? Why can't I delete it? Where did it come from? I'd like to clear it so my local backup will run, but I'm also concerned that this might indicate a security issue, as I have no idea where this file came from. Thanks for anything you can offer!1.4KViews1like45CommentsI accidentally deleted some files from my computer and I can't restore them.
Hi, Apologies if this has been asked or discussed elsewhere in this forum. It appears that I have accidentally deleted some files from a folder on my PC, which is synced to Dropbox. If I checked the events on the website, it indeed shows that the files were deleted, and the time also checks out. However, I cannot find the files in either Dropbox's recycle bin or my local PC's recycle bin. I want to recover those files. Can anybody help? Thanks!61Views0likes6Comments
