I got an email from Dropbox stating some files would be deleted on 05/26, but I can't find them.
Hi Dropbox Support and Community,
I received an email from Dropbox notifying me that some content shared with me by the Love Team will be permanently deleted on May 26, 2025. The email included a CSV file listing the shared content, but when I check my Dropbox account, I no longer see any of the files or folders. The shared folder appears empty.
Unfortunately, I no longer have access to the original email account the folder was shared with, so I can’t request a fresh invite or get a new link. However, I’m still logged into the Dropbox account that received the shared content originally, and I do have the CSV file that lists all the file names and locations.
Is there any way for Dropbox support to help me recover access to those files or re-enable the shared links before the May 26 deadline?
These files contain photos I’d really like to keep, and I’m hoping there’s still a way to retrieve them.
Thank you in advance for any help or guidance.

Hi Kittykiy01, welcome to our forum!
When checking your Dropbox account, did you also have a look at your Deleted files and Events pages, and the files in question are nowhere to be found?
Also, when saying that you no longer have access to the original email account the folder was shared with, can you please clarify which account you’re referring to exactly? If you received this email from Dropbox about the files being permanently deleted, are you referring to another email address than the one you see here?
Let me know more details, and we’ll have a look together.

I have two emails. One that I created the folder with and the email I shared the folder to. The original email, I no longer have access to it. Only to the email I shared the folder with. I cannot see anything inside the folder. It was not in the deleted or shared files. I have the csv but I can’t see anything inside it either. Is there a way you can send the original link so I can get them?

Yes it is a different email than the one there.

Hi Kittykiy01, if the email address is different, are you able to login to that account specifically, since that is the account on which the files were deleted from, meaning that they can be recovered from there?

I can’t log into the original email only the one it was shared to and I can’t see anything there

Unfortunately, since the email was sent to original email, it wouldn't be possible to recover these files on another account, as the current account might not have the permission to recover those files.
As you're not seeing any deleted files on the events page on your current Dropbox account, this would confirm that it isn't possible to restore the deleted files.

Are sure this is legit? I just got a similar email and looks like a phishing scam.

Hey Brich, let's jump right into this!
Did the email come from an official Dropbox domain?
Have you also checked your deleted files page, and events page like Hannah suggested above?
Let me know more, and we'll take it from there!

To clarify my dates are in the future, so nothing has been deleted. Again I don't think this is a legit email but I will investigate further and yes it came from official Dropbox domain.

Hm, that's interesting Brich.
If you have a screenshot, feel free to attach it here in order for me to have a visual too.
