68 Topics"Recent" Folder in OS Integration
In the Mac and Windows integrations, I would love to have a "Recents" folder that's auto-populated with links/shortcuts to the most recently updated/added items. One use case that I would use all the time: I'm creating an email on my laptop and realize I need to include a photo of something. This usually means going to Camera Uploads and then scrolling to try to find the specific photos (when they're all labeled something obnoxious like photo-yyyymmddhhmmss.jpg by our phones). But if there were a folder that showed the last 20 files altered in our Dropbox account, it would be so much quicker to find the photo I had just taken on my phone.30Views0likes5CommentsLimit offline files to max 10% of computer's hard drive capacity
I'd like to suggest a feature: the ability to limit offline files to 10% of the computer's hard drive capacity. This would be incredibly helpful for managing storage. This way you avoid completely saturating the disk space, making the PC unusable. Considering the current size of PC hard drives, the amount of files available offline is certainly sufficient for normal operation.44Views1like2CommentsAdd option to remove Dropbox options from context menu
As title mention. It feels like invasive when a program does thing like that in your computer and you have no control over it - I made a cleanup of my context menus and only Dropbox offers no option to remove it. pCloud drive offers it, see picture:147Views5likes5CommentsAdd an option to sync once every ten minutes, instead of immediately when there's a change
Currently, Dropbox seems to be syncing continuously, i.e. as soon as it detects a change it will start to sync it. It would be great if you could set an interval for this. For example, if you'd set that interval to 10 minutes, Dropbox would only sync files to the cloud every 10 minutes. After that specific sync has completed, the interval of 10 minutes will start again (to prevent intervals from overlapping when syncing takes longer than the interval). Having an interval would lower the impact Dropbox has on your system, as it will be 'resting' during the interval period with very low CPU usage (I would assume, at least). Also, having an interval, should lower the chances of locking problems occuring between Dropbox and applications using the files in Dropbox.28Views0likes2CommentsShared Color Tags / Visual Labels in Shared Folders
It would be extremely useful if color tags or file highlights could be made visible to all collaborators in a shared Dropbox folder. Many teams rely on visual cues for workflow, and this would reduce confusion and improve coordination. Please consider enabling this feature across shared folders — similar to how macOS tags or Google Drive priority labels work.60Views1like4CommentsMake Dropbox compatible with Linux on ARM processors.
Having Dropbox on Linux distros running on Arm processors would make a huge difference for people who own Raspberry Pis. Pi 5s have much more computing power than my cheep Ubuntu desktop that ran Dropbox ~15 years ago. I am highly considering making my main driver a Linux running on Arm device. If that happens, I'll have to reevaluate my cloud storage solution. I'm not opposed to compiling code from source if need be. But asking for source code (even just for the client side) seems like a harder battle than asking for binaries.55Views4likes2CommentsChange Icons for folders in Windows
First, I would like to thank the Dropbox development team for addressing the issue with not being able to use my own desktop icons in Windows for Dropbox folders. That was accomplished a couple years ago. I wouldn't have kept my Dropbox account otherwise. That is very important to me and apparently to many subscribers. So, I am back on the same topic. I can change the icon for any folder except a shared folder, for which there is only the standard icon provided by Dropbox. If you have many shared folders, you have many icons that are the same. So, how about allowing a user to change the icon of a shared folder? I spent a least a couple of hours on trying to find out how. But nothing works. When I change it in Windows customize folder option, it never takes for a shared folder. Now, why is that? I think it's time for the Dropbox develooment team to step up, like they have before and solve another simple problem. We know you can do it. We are cheering you on! Thanks for listening to your community of users!83Views2likes2CommentsNotification/warning when closing a locked file
My idea is about locked files and the problem that people forget to unlock it after they're done working in it. To avoid that people forget to unlock a file after they close it, it would be nice that you get a warning about the file still being locked when you close it. (in the same way an application asks you if you want to save changes before closing it) This notification would avoid the problem that a file stays locked for hours or days without reason, just because someone forgot to unlock it.39Views0likes3Comments
