Can I have the Dropbox for macOS on File Provider app if my home folder is on an external drive?

I am hoping to get some clarification on the current capabilities of dropbox to support file provider mode on macOS Sequoia. My current set up is such that my home folder is migrated to an external SSD, formatted appropriately in a APFS encrypted.

On my dropbox settings, I am constantly asked to update to file provider, but when I go through with this, it seems like nothing actually happens. I am reading conflicting reports that this is still only available to beta testers to which I am not, but the option still exist for me to upgrade to file provider. Is this an error and I'm not eligible? Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks in advance

    Hey wiffle!

Sorry for the late update, and happy Friday. I was checking internally with our Team about this.

For now, I'd recommend that you ignore any File Provided related notifications, and to avoid updating to File Provider. Once we have additional news, we'll definitely update you, and let you know more.

Thanks a bunch, and let me know if you have any questions!

Hi Hannah , thanks for the quick reply.

The dropbox folder is currently located on the external SSD (ie. /Volumes/ExternalSSD/Users/Me/Dropbox).

I have looked through that article in detail, and despite my best efforts, it doesn't seem to want to update a file provider functionality by itself.

This is what I see in the application menu despite clicking update now multiple times.
