Add .dropboxignore directory to exclude folders without using selective sync
Please please please can you add a feature that allows folders to be excluded from the Dropbox account (on windows and mac). For sure I'm not the first person to request this, but I'm yet to find a good explanation of why it's not there. A quick google search reveals loads of people also looking for the same feature. I really like the workflow I have with dropbox, but it's getting to the point where I might switch providers in order to allow better selective sync. I've seen hackish solutions using selective sync, but it would be great if this could be done in one of the following ways: - global pattern matching eg "node_modules" - a marker file in the directory like .dropboxignore - a simple right click context menu "Ignore this folder" Other than that, keep up the good work. Be able to change Dropbox backup folders names on individual accounts
Add possibility of rename Backup folders. If you have only one computer, it go fine, but if you have more than one, it ends being very confussing. Due iCloud Drive issues, I've changed all of my Macs "synchronized" Desktop and Documents to Dropbox. However, take a look to the picture: It is very difficult to guess what is what. With the possibility to rename them, I could have named "My iMac", "My MBP 13", "My MBP 15". Very easy to see what is what. (As a workaround, we can change to detail view, but could be more easy for all of us be able to change the names).
Dark Mode for Dropbox on Desktop
Hello Everybody! I have created this thread to provide updates on Dark Mode for Dropbox on Desktop. We are closing off the longer thread for general Dark Mode requests so that we can provide our community with updates for specific products, and so that requests don't get lost. At the time of posting, our team is looking into Dark Mode for Desktop, but cannot provide a time frame for implementation. You can vote for this idea and comment here to show your support. Open shared links directly in native app
A few years have passed since this request and as a business this would save us allot of time and irritation. As a company we share daily hundreds of links to files via Microsoft Teams with each other. Now the situation is as follow: 1 link is shared 2 team member clicks on the link 3 browser opens the link to the file 4 user clicks on 'open in dropbox' button Ideal situation would be that admins and users have a File open preference, where links to files can directly open in the native apps: 1 link is shared 2 team member clicks on it and the file is synced and opened in the native app Microsoft Teams has a great solution to this problem for Office-applications, called File open preference, see screenshot. It would be great if Dropbox could also build this feature in it's Dropbox-apps.New folder creation - Option to change default behavior of "Send an email notification" checkbox
This idea would solve a lot of issues and address many complaints. Creating the option to change a default behavior when creating a new folder within a parent folder. Currently you cannot modify the checkbox below from being checked by default when creating a new folder. If you do not un-check the box, an email notification is sent to every member of the parent folder. Please see a screenshot of the dialogue box and checkbox in question:
